On December 6, 2011, Belgium's new prime minister, Elio Di Rupo, and the members of his government were sworn in by King Albert II at the royal palace. This was 541 days after the last federal elections of June 13, 2010. In the meantime, Belgium had broken the world record of the longest government formation and therefore also of the longest time without a government with full powers.
