The Lisbon Treaty increased the powers granted to national parliaments which are supposed, in pursuance of the letter of article 12 TUE, to provide active contribution to the proper operation of the Union. However such an assumption appears to be far from verified. Firstly because that increased role recognised to national representation poses signiicant consistency problems in terms of the EU's political institutional characteristics. Also because one cannot under estimate the disorders that it could lead to.
