    in Nueva Sociedad , n. 211 ,  2007 ,  81-97
Full text available at: http://www.nuso.org/upload/articulos/3458_1.pdf Central America, the Andean Community of Nations and Mercosur are currently negotiating association agreements with the European Union. Although each of them has its particular characteristics, they are all based on broadly-concieved understandings which, beyond economic aspects, include cultural and political themes, together with general problems of cooperation. The Latin American trade union movement has opted for participating in these processes with a view to influencing the outcome. But for its proposals to be taken into account, it must abandon a vision strictly limited to labor questions, present concrete proposals and build broadly-based alliances with trade union organizations in this continent and on the other side of the Atlantic.
